WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF SULFUR DEFICIENCY IN PLANTS?

Sulfur is a secondary plant nutrient for plants. Liquid sulfur (KOHAN S 80) has a much higher nutrient capacity than SO3 form due to the elemental form of sulfur.

In the lack of sulphur;

* Sulfur deficiency is similar to nitrogen deficiency but the difference is that it is first seen in young leaves.

* Weakness and shedding are seen starting from young leaves.

* Young shoots die.

* Root permeability, stoma patency and photosynthesis are reduced.

* Protein and chlorophyll synthesis slows down.

* Plant development and rooting is reduced.

* Plant resistance decreases.

HOW DOES LIQUID SULFUR WORK IN THE SOIL?

In alkaline soils, nutrients are retained by the soil, so plants cannot benefit from these nutrients. Only at an appropriate pH range, plants can take these nutrients from the soil. Liquid sulfur (KOHAN S 80) arranges the pH of soil to the value that plants need.

In this way, liquid sulphur;

* Maximizes plant nutrition from soil.
* Increases productivity.
* Increases resistance of plant.
* Helps plant to mature earlier.
* Increases resistance of plant against frost and winter conditions.
* Increases soil resistance against drought.
* Increases productivity by increasing bacterial activity in soil.
* Increases protein synthesis.
* Increases synthesis of cysteine and methionine amino acids.
* Reduces lime and salinity in soil.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF USING LIQUID SULFUR?

* Its effect on soil is observed in a short time:

Dissolution of sulfur in soil depends on particle diameter. Liquid sulfur with a particle diameter around 5 microns (KOHAN S 80) starts to show its effect within a week, while this period lasts for months in the sulfur used in powder (micronized or granular) form.

* Reduces fertilizer cost:

The soil with an unsuitable pH value, holds the fertilizer and the plants cannot benefit. Therefore, more fertilization is required unfortunately to supply nutrients that plants need. When liquid sulphur (KOHAN S 80) is applied to the soil, the plants can easily absorb the nutrition and fully benefit from the fertilizer. Even in some cases, even less of the required fertilizer amount will be sufficient since the nutrients left from the previous fertilization will be released.

* Reduces pesticide cost:

It is known that if plant resistance is insufficient, plants will be susceptible to many pests and diseases (rust, powdery mildew, leaf spots, nematodes…etc). Since liquid sulfur (KOHAN S 80) will provide plants to meet their needs from the soil more easily, the resistance of plants against diseases and pests will be high, thus reducing the use of drugs.

* It is one of the few products used in organic agriculture.

The use of many fertilizers and pesticides in organic farming is prohibited. However, sulfur is a product that is allowed to be used in organic agriculture accordance with legal regulations.

* Does not cause shocking stress caused by chemical acids:

Sudden changes in pH in the soil cause serious damage to the soil flora. It destroys most of the beneficial bacteria in the soil and provides an ideal environment for the growth of pathogens. It also eliminates the usefulness of organic nutrients in the soil.

Most of the chemical acids used in soil improvement (phosphoric acid, nitric acid, sulfuric acid) are strong acids and cause sudden pH changes in the environment. However, liquid sulfur (KOHAN S 80) achieves the same effect without damaging the micro-organisms and plants in the soil.

* It is safer to use compared to chemical acids and sulfur powder:

Chemical acids (phosphoric acid, nitric acid, sulfuric acid, etc.) are highly corrosive substances. In case of contact, they cause serious damages (chemically reversible or irreversible) and chemical burns. There is a high potential for danger during handling, transport and storage. Powder form of sulfur has disadvantages such as dusting and easy ignition in terms of usage and storage. Liquid sulfur (KOHAN S 80) is not a corrosive substance although it effectively reduces soil pH. Moreover, it does not make dusting and ignites due to its liquid form.
